Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) aspires to be among the top research universities in the world, a leader in scientific innovation, applied sciences and interdisciplinary research – all of which impact daily life. The University is committed to social and environmental responsibility and is working to develop the Negev, Israel and the world. American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (AABGU) plays a vital role in sustaining David Ben-Gurion’s vision, creating a world-class institution of education and research in the Israeli desert, nurturing the Negev community and sharing the University’s expertise locally and around the globe.

The Challenge

AABGU was making great strides with their direct mail appeals, but they wanted to get online.

The Solution

I created and managed AABGU’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts. I worked closely with the communications and marketing team in Israel, which included a staff photographer. It was a lot of fun, since it often involved things like picking out the cutest photo of a campus service dog.

Once the accounts were established, I trained staff members in 9 regions around the country to connect with current and potential donors online. I provided custom guidelines for AABGU’s social media accounts and their new CRM database.

The Results

We saw a ten-fold increase in engagement during our end-of-year campaign from the previous year.
